Dublin Wheelers GP 2010
Posted Monday, 08 March 2010 By Brendan Whelan
Zaidan 5th In Dublin Wheelers Grand Prix : Lucan CRC first year Junior Darragh Zaidan put in a great ride to take 5th prize in the Dublin Wheelers GP on Saturday morning. Darragh was only awarded his place on Sunday in Navan after a tight sprint finish had caused confusion with the official results. Click Here For Official Results From Dublin Wheelers:

Darragh went clear in a break of 9 Riders on the final lap in Dunboyne - and the young LCRC rider put in the bulk of the workload to keep the break clear. Zaidan lost out in the sprint for the line - but this was an excellent performance from the Junior rider in only his 2nd Senior event.

Darraghs Veteran Team mate Brendan Whelan (4th in 2009) led home the 130 strong main bunch to take 10th with Brian Reynolds close behind in 12th.

The Host Club put on another well run race - The Mick Lally Memorial / DW G.P has now become a very popular event on the Irish Calendar.

Notification From DWCC: "There was a slight error in the results yesterday. 5th place in the Dublin Wheelers GP should have gone to Darragh Zaiden from the Stagg/Lucan CRC. For a first year junior this was a great ride. Well done!
The rider (Greg Dempsey Barrow Wheelers) who was awarded 5th place on the day was actually 1st unplaced A4.
The sprint finish was extremely tight between the riders in the break.
Greg will keep the prize but lose the CI points. Darragh will be awarded an extra prize and the CI ranking points"
