The Track Commission organised a trip to Alkmaar Velodrome in Holland for Track training – Sundrive and Orangefield Track Riders were asked to be part of the 25 rider group travelling over on January 24th
The trip was an ideal opportunity for riders to train on a Velodrome - especially for the Youth - with the recent cycling focus being placed on Track Cycling in the high Performance programme. Young Track riders From The North and South quickly adapted to riding on the Indoor Velodrome over the two intense days of training.
The trip was a great success - and all the riders hope to return to the velodrome soon. The Womens Commission have recently trained at the Velodrome - and they will be travelling over for their 2nd Track visit next weekend. Click Here For A Report On The Womens Trip: In 2003 the former half covered cycle track of Alkmaar has been transformed into a sports palace. The originally concrete track is been replaced by a wooden track and the half covering is been closed totally.
The inside area of the track is also used for all kinds of indoor sports and events like concerts or exhibitions.
The Track is the home base of national track cycling team of the Netherlands including champions Theo Bos and Teun Mulder. | Track facts | | | | Location | : | Alkmaar | | Country | : | The Netherlands | | Track length | : | 250 metre | | Track width | : | 6.5 metre | | Max inclination | : | 42 degrees | | Track designer | : | Sander Douma and Hans Koning |
